Mercedes unveils new livery for Maximilian Götz

Rookie Maximilian Götz will compete in his debut season in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters at the wheel of an MV Agusta-branded Mercedes-AMG C-Coupé DTM, after a cooperation deal between both manufacturers.

Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta announced their joint venture last October, after the three-point star bought a 25% stake in the small Italian manufacturer. This partnership includes marketing and sales. The motorcycle brand was originally founded in 1945 by Domenico Augusta and currently employs 260 people at their Italian headquarters, and has achieved 270 grand prix victories and 75 world titles, sporting names such as Giacomo Agostini, John Surtees and Mike Hailwood.

In a mirror deal, riders lining up for the MV Agusta works team in the World Superbike and World Supersport championships will sport the Mercedes-AMG logo on their MV Agusta F3 and F4 RC machines for the first time this season.

Tobias Moers, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH: “Mercedes-AMG and MV Agusta are united in their passion for competition. The constant striving for the highest performance and the quest to finish on the podium are reflected in both company’s products. It is therefore a logical step for us to continue to write our racing history together in the upcoming DTM season.”

Ulrich Fritz, team principal Mercedes-AMG DTM Team: “The racing spirit common to the two brands is now also visible on our respective racing machines and is symbolic of the desire of both parties to be the best in their respective series. The involvement of an Italian racing legend like MV Agusta is another powerful reason to look forward to the upcoming 2015 DTM season.”

Maximilian Götz will drive the number 84 Mercedes C-Coupé DTM, partnering Daniel Juncadella at Mücke Motorsport.
