Tom Blomqvist fastest on second day at Oschersleben

BMW’s rookie Tom Blomqvist had the upper hand during the afternoon session at Oschersleben today, as part of the last official testing before the start of the 2015 DTM season.

The Briton clocked a best time of 1:20.216, being the fastest man on track today with his M4 DTM, completing 132 laps.

Gary Paffett, who had been fastest in the morning, concentrated on race simulations in the afternoon. The ART GP driver still finished the day second overall, just 0.093 seconds off Blomqvist’s time in his C63 DTM.

Just as it had happened in the morning session, third spot went to Audi driver Mattias Ekströn, who finished the day as the busiest man around the Motorsport Arena, completing a total of 158 laps and finishing 0.315 seconds off the pace.

BMW’s Martin Tomczyk was fourth, followed by Mercedes’ Pascal Wehrlein. Maxime Martin and Timo Glock vollowed for the Bavarian manufacturer, thus putting four  BMWs in the top seven.

Jamie Green was eighth for Audi, followed by team mate Timo Scheider. Paul Di Resta, who had limited running time during the morning, and Daniel Juncadella followed in the classification.

Last overall was Mike Rockenfeller, who took over Timo Scheider’s RS 5 DTM in the afternoon, concentrating on race setup.

Tomorrow will be the last day of testing before the season start in two weeks’ time.
