Wittmann and Farfus penalised ahead of Race 1

BMW Motorsport drivers Marco Wittmann and Augusto Farfus have received grid penalties for race 1 as they were found guilty of blocking during the qualifying session.

Reigning champion Wittmann went off track and rejoined just in front of Jamie Green, hampering the Briton as he was on a fast lap. Similarly, Farfus was in the way of another competitor during the first stint of the qualifying.

As a consequence, both have been handed 5-position grid penalties for race one. Team RMG’s Wittmann will start from 11^th place on the grid, whilst Team RBM’s Farfus will do so from 23^rd.

Adrien Tambay also received a penalty for an engine change, and will start from the 24^th and last position on the grid.
