Augusto Farfus leads BMW 1-2-3 in Zandvoort Free Practice 2

Augusto Farfus headed a BMW 1-2-3 in second Free Practice at Zandvoort, ahead of Team RBM stablemate and DTM rookie Tom Blomqvist. Ex-Red Bull Racing Formula 1 third driver Antonio Felix da Costa finished third in his Team Schnitzer run BMW M4 DTM.

Farfus completed a total of 16 laps to set a quickest time of 1:31.518, 0.262 seconds ahead of Blomqvist and 0.517s ahead of da Costa.

The 2015 DTM championship leader Jamie Green was the quickest of the Audis in fourth, after matching da Costa’s time of 1:32.035.

Green also completed the most running of all 24 drivers with 21 laps behind the wheel his Team Rosberg prepared RS5 DTM.

Force India Formula 1 driver Paul di Resta was the quickest of the Mercedes drivers with his C63 AMG DTM in fifth, ahead of DTM rookie and Mercedes stablemate Lucas Auer who rounded out the top six.

Miguel Molina was seventh in his Audi RS5 DTM, ahead of stablemate Timo Scheider, and 2005 DTM champion Gary Paffett and Adrien Tambay, who rounded out the top 10.

The 2014 DTM title winner Marco Wittmann finished 0.082s away from Tambay’s time of 1:32.142 to finish 11th in his BMW M4 DTM.

Audi’s former DTM champions, Mike Rockenfeller and Mattias Ekström had a tough day at the 4.3 kilometre circuit on the Dutch coast, after winding up 13th and 14th respectively.

BMW’s ex-title winners, 2011 DTM champion Martin Tomczyk and 2012 champion Bruno Spengler also endured a trying session after finishing 16th and 18th.

The pairing were split by Edoardo Mortara’s Audi.

The bottom three positions were locked out by the three Mercedes drivers, Christian Vietoris in 22nd, Robert Wickens who won last time out at the Norisring in 23rd, while DTM rookie Maximilian Gotz propped up the timing sheets in 24th.
