Edoardo Mortara pips Gary Paffett in Zandvoort Warm Up

Abt Audi’s Edoardo Mortara beat 2005 DTM champion Gary Paffett by a marginal 0.042 seconds to take top spot in the Warm Up session on Day 2 of the 2015 Zandvoort DTM weekend.

Mortara set his fastest time of 1:32.716 in the closing stages of the 15 minute session, to steal top spot from the Mercedes driver who was at the top of the time sheets for the majority of the Warm Up.

Yesterday’s pole-sitter Augusto Farfus was third, ahead of DTM points leader, Rosberg Audi’s Jamie Green.

DTM rookie Maximilian Götz impressed in fifth, while Dani Juncadella and Paul di Resta made it four Mercedes AMG C-Coupes in the top 10 with positions seventh and ninth respectively.

Nico Müller rounded out the top 10 for Audi, one position ahead of yesterday’s Race 1 winner and 2014 DTM champion, BMW’s Marco Wittmann.

Mattias Ekström’s difficult weekend at Zandvoort continued, after he completed just one lap if the warm up session. The 2004 and 2007 DTM title winner finished the session at the bottom of the times in 24th.

The track conditions were notably cooler than yesterday following an overnight rain shower.
