No action for Daniel Juncadella after investigation into recovery behaviour

Mercedes AMG’s Daniel Juncadella had a weekend to forget at the Red Bull Ring, host of the fifth round of the 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season. On Sunday’s race, the Spaniard faced several problems, ending his race by parking his C63 DTM on the trackside and being reported to the Stewards.

Team Mücke and Juncadella decided to come into the pits after the initial safety car period. As stated by the regulations, that couldn’t count towards the mandatory tyre change in Race 2. Nevertheless, a series of wrong calls by both the team and the driver would see the Spaniard coming into the pits twice more, running at the back of the pack.

Six laps from the end, Juncadella spun and parked his Mercedes C63 DTM on the trackside, with his car developing a small fire. The 24-year old was reported to the stewards for ‘unsporting behaviour during rescue operations’. Earlier on the day, the stewards had already dealt with a Porsche Cup driver who had aggressively pushed a track marshal.

After hearing both the driver and the team, the stewards decided to take no further action against neither Mücke or Juncadella.

The Spaniard is 20th in the Drivers’ standings with 14 points.
