DTM to race at the Nurburgring until 2017

The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters will continue racing at the Nürburgring in the coming seasons, as a two-year deal has been signed by circuit owner Capricorn Nürburgring GmbH (CNG) and the series’ promoter ITR.

Nürburgring has hosted 69 DTM races since 1984, and will welcome the series in a month’s time, for the eight round of the championship, taking place from the 25th to the 27th of September.

ITR Chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht highlighted the significance of the Nürburgring as the most senior track in the country: “The Nürburgring is the mother of all the racetracks on German soil and has been a constant on the DTM calendar since the creation of the series. This is supposed to be continued in the future and now was sealed with a two-year deal. ITR and the Nürburgring want to jointly work for the success of DTM and keep on improving the experience for the spectators.”

Capricorn CEO Carsten Schumacher also welcomed the deal, marking the DTM as one of the most important series racing at the Nürburgring: “The contract running up to and including 2017 signed now represents an important milestone for the future of the Nürburgring. We are looking forward to continuing the successful cooperation with ITR. We want to jointly work on attracting even bigger crowds, with the DTM race meetings at the Nürburgring.”
