No further action for the incident between Miguel Molina and Christian Vietoris

The Stewards have decided that the incident between Miguel Molina and Christian Vietoris shortly after the start, and which ended with both cars seriously damaged, doesn’t require any further action on their part.

Molina started the race from eighth place in his Audi RS 5 DTM from Team Abt Sportsline, whilst Vietoris was 24th and last on the grid with his Mercedes C63 DTM.

After the first corner, the Spaniard was tagged by several drivers, spinning in the middle of the track. Vietoris couldn’t avoid him and hit the Audi head on, lifting the number 17 car off the ground, bouncing and crashing into the barriers.

Molina had serious damage on the back of his car, but Vietoris has the worst part, with the nose of his C63 DTM completely destroyed. The German also suffered a hit to his knee. At this point, Mercedes AMG still isn’t clear on whether they will be able to repair the car on time for tomorrow.

On a similar note, the stewards have also decided that no further action is required after the first lap collision between Mercedes’ Paul Di Resta and Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller, that sent the Scot to the back of the pack.
