Timo Scheider to race at the World Rallycross in Barcelona

Audi Sport Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters driver Timo Scheider will participate at round 10 of the World Rallycross Championship in Barcelona later this month.

The twice DTM champion will drive an Audi S3 from Münnich Motorsport, owned by René Münnich, a WRX driver himself, and owner of the namesake team in the WTCC.

Scheider will meet on track with fellow Audi DTM driver Mattias Ekström, who also runs his own team EKSRX in the WRX. The Team Phoenix driver made the announcement through his own social media channels, and is feeling excited about the new experience: “I will race for ‪Münnich Motorsport at the 10 RD of World Rallycross in ‪‎Barcelona. Great opportunity to make some new experience! Looking forward to meet my mate Mattias Ekström in the dirt.”

Timo Scheider had to sit out last weekend’s DTM round at Moscow, after being excluded from participating due to his involvement in the ‘Pushgate’ in Spielberg. The 2008 and 2009 champion is due to be back at the wheel of his RS 5 DTM in next week’s round in Oschersleben.
