Lucas Auer and Maximilian Götz to start Race 1 from the back of the grid

Mercedes AMG drivers Lucas Auer and Maximilian Götz will start Race 1 from the back of the grid after being excluded from the qualifying results.

Auer and Götz had qualified 23rd and 24th on the grid respectively, which was already the last row. To add insult to injury, they were excluded from qualifying after team members infringed parc fermé regulations. Götz was also given an additional five-place grid drop for blocking Audi’s Mattias Ekström during the qualifying session, however in effect their grid positions are unchanged.

BMW’s Marco Wittmann was also fined 10,000€ for the unauthorised presence of members of his team in the weighing area.
