The Mercedes C63 DTMs will remain the heaviest cars for Race 1

The performance weights for Race 1 have been calculated after the qualifying session held at the Hungaroring, with the Mercedes still the heaviest cars in the field, despite losing 5kg.

Pole-man Edoardo Mortara had set the ideal lap for Audi Sport with a time of 1:35.168 in qualifying, while Marco Wittmann was the best for BMW Motorsport, with an ideal lap time of 1:35.697, with Felix Rosenqvist the top driver for Mercedes AMG, with a ideal time of 1:35.870.

With the results in hand, both BMW Motorsport’s and Mercedes AMG’s ideal laps were over the 0.2% from Audi Sport’s. Thus, the RS 5 DTMs will gain 5kg for Race 1, with a new base weight of 1,115kg. The BMW M4 DTMs and the Mercedes AMG C63 DTMs will lose 5kg, with their base weights at 1,112.5kg and 1,130kg.
