António Félix da Costa receives fine for loose wheel at Hockenheim

BMW Motorsport driver António Félix da Costa was fined after a wheel came off his M4 DTM following his pit stop during today’s race at Hockenheim.

The Portuguese driver had completed his mandatory pit stop on lap 21 and, two laps later, the left-rear wheel came off his car at the Mercedes Kurve, which forced the Team Schnitzer driver to retire. The stewards decided to fine the BMW Schnitzer driver, who was taking part in his last DTM race, €3,000 for an unsafe release.

The season finale was also used by the DMSB, the German sporting authority (ASN), to carry out anti-doping controls.

Samples were taken from Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller, as well as the Mercedes’ pair of Christian Vietoris and Daniel Juncadella. The results are expected in a few weeks time, until then, the race results will remain provisional.
