Audi Sport celebrate teams’ and manufacturers’ titles

Audi Sport celebrated winning the teams’ and manufacturers’ titles this year after a strong final weekend at the season finale at Hockenheim.

Team Abt Sportsline managed to stay ahead of rivals Team RMG all weekend, accruing 319 points and securing the teams’ title with a 29-point margin over their BMW contenders.

In the manufacturers’ table, Audi prevailed and won their fifth title in the championship with a total of 700 points, 53 ahead of BMW Motorsport. Mercedes AMG was already out of contention, finishing 229 points adrift.

The two titles go some way to compensating for losing out on the coveted drivers’ title, as Edoardo Mortara finished as the runner-up to BMW’s Marco Wittmann by just four points.

Dieter Gass, head of DTM at Audi Sport, said: “Even though we missed the drivers’ title so narrowly, it was a strong DTM season for Audi on the whole. We had the strongest package and won a total of ten races, plus two of the three possible titles.”

“I would like to express my thanks to everyone who worked hard to achieve this: to the entire team of Audi Sport in Neuburg and Neckarsulm. To our colleagues in Ingolstadt. To our three teams, our drivers and, obviously, our partners” concluded the Audi boss.
