Ekström to drive Swedish Rally

In 2005, the reigning DTM Champion, Mattias Ekström, will contest a World Rally Championship round as guest entry for the Škoda works team. “Mattias will contest the Rally Sweden as there won’t be a scheduling conflict regarding his DTM programme,” said Škoda’s Motorsport Director, Martin Muehlmeister.

When contesting his home rally across the Swedish woods, in 2004, the Audi works driver didn’t only win the Group N alone. In his home prepared Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, he also succeeded in outclassing several superior WRC cars, thus clinching a great twelfth place in the overall rankings.

During his second rally appearance, in October, the Swede delivered another proof of his gravel skills and took a superb class win in the Rally Spain.

The Rally Sweden 2005 will take place from 10th to 13th February, in the Karlstad region.
