More testing for Opel
At Opel, preparations for the new season in the DTM are running at full speed. After the newly developed Opel Vectra GTS V8 had completed his maiden outing at the circuit of Vallelunga (Italy), mid-December, the programme continued this week with three days of testing at Jerez (Spain).
At the 4.428 km long former Grand Prix track in the south of the Iberian peninsula, Opel’s works-drivers Laurent Aiello (France), Marcel Fässler (Switzerland), Heinz-Harald Frentzen (Mönchengladbach) and Manuel Reuter (Mainz) were all involved in the test session.
Both the new car for the forthcoming season and the car used in last year’s championship were out on the track. The 2004 Vectra GTS V8 was used for testing various different shock absorbers and completing several start attempts. For the new car, the team concentrated on finding the right suspension set-up. On the final test day, the new car was also integrated into the testing programme of the shock absorbers. Both cars did long runs as well as single-lap outings.
