Mücke Motorsport in DTM 2005

The Berlin based team Mücke Motorsport will participate in the 2005 DTM as a private team. They will enter a last year’s AMG-Mercedes C-Class driven by Stefan Mücke, son of team owner Peter. The team was founded in 1998 and is headed by Peter Mücke ever since. They enter the car of his son Stefan who drove for the Persson team in 2004.

Since Stefan Mücke (23) had moved from Formula 3 to DTM in 2002, he has participated in 30 DTM races so far, each with a Mercedes-Benz last year’s model. His best result was seventh place in the 2004 season’s third event at Adria, Italy. Co-operating with sponsors and partners, the team is able to finance their engage-ment. The car and a kit of spare parts required for the season are provided to Mücke Motorsport by Mercedes-Benz Motorsport on lease.

Peter Mücke, Teamchef Mücke Motorsport: “To enter the DTM as a private team is a great challenge. Here you don’t have a learning year, we have to do eve-rything right from the beginning. However, we have a reliable team and Stefan is an experienced driver. I’m glad that we got this opportunity to show what we are capable of.”

Stefan Mücke: “Due to modifications in the technical regulations it’s a bit easier for the 2004 cars, and the gap behind the new cars will be smaller now. My target is to finish among the top-ten as often as possible.”

Mercedes-Benz Motorsportchef Norbert Haug: “With this co-operation we wanted to provide the opportunity, for a privately financed team to participate in the DTM at low cost but with a chance for success, in case a manufacturer pro-vides a car and parts. It was obvious that we did this with the Mücke team, be-cause it is a successful Mercedes partner in Formula 3 for years. Stefan Mücke and the entire team will do their best to play an active part among the DTM field and to offer excellent cost effectiveness.”
