Häkkinen takes first ever pole
Mika Häkkinen took his first ever DTM pole position today at Spa. The flying finn took his pole during the super pole session with a time of 2:32.729. That was 0.5 seconds quicker than champion Mattias Ekström who took second.
Third was another Audi with Christian Abt behind the wheel, continuing to impress with his 04 spec´ Audi A4. Fourth was Marcel Fässler, but the Opel drivers were for sure not pleased with the super pole session.
Laurent Aiello held provisional pole position in the earlier, longer qualifying session. But as Tom Kristensen went of in his inlap, both Aiello´s and Fässler´s runs were aborted. They both got a new run, in witch Fässler improved his time but Aiello went off the track briefly and lost much time.
Gary Paffett got tenth position as he crashed his car during the earlier qualifying session. But as he managed to set a time good enough to take him to super pole, he got tenth place despite not having driven super pole. Stay tuned for the race tomorrow.
