Another pole for Kristensen
Behind the wheel of his Audi A4 DTM, Denmark’s Tom Kristensen secured pole position for the sixth round of the 2005 DTM season, held at the Norisring. Gary Paffett, currently runner-up in the championship, came second, with his brand-mate, Bruno Spengler, causing a stir by taking third grid position, with his 2004 spec car.
Manuel Reuter was the best of the Opel drivers, finishing in sixth. He outpaced his teammate Marcel Fässler, who had been the quicker of the two in the first qualifying session. Frentzen just missed out on pole with 11th spot. Aiello was the slowest today, even without his one second penalty.
Championship leader Mattias Ekström took fifth place today, just behind Jean Alesi in the Mercedes. Ekströms teammate Martin Tomczyk didn’t make the Super Pole qualifying after setting the 14th fastest time in the first timed session
