Cost reducing changes for 2006
The DTM organisation has introduced a number of new rule changes for the coming season. One of the major changes is that the amount of new tyres per weekend and mechanics used during the pitstops will be reduced.
Also, the aerodynamics and all major components must be kept during 2006. The success weight will be kept, 10 kilos extra for the top manufacturer from each race and minus 10 kilos fort the worst manufacturer. Base weight for a 2006 spec´ car next season will be 1.050 kilos while a 2005 spec´ car will have a minimum weight of 1.035 kilos.
“The course for an ongoing successful development of DTM has been set. Cost reduction is the right way to keep on offering the manufacturers a perfect platform for the presentation of their products, in the future. It´s our goal to create even better values at clearly reduced budgets,” said ITR man Hans Werner Aufrecht to Autosport.
