Franchitti tested for Mercedes

Dario Franchitti recently tested for the Mercedes DTM-team at Estoril. Franchitti usually drives in the IRL but now returned to DTM. Dario drove in DTM during 95 and 96.

Gerhard Unger from Mercedes, who also is a close friend to Franchitti, thought that he did well during the test.

“It was a pretty good test, actually, and he did very well. He only had a day and a half in the car, and it´s difficult to get in a DTM car because it´s a completely different thing to drive than what he´s been used to. With a bit more testing, I´m sure he´d be on a competitive pace,” Unger told Autosport.

But according to Unger we won´t see Franchitti in DTM the coming season.

“No, not at the moment. Maybe he´s thinking about it in a few years time.”

There were other drivers present at the test. Newcomers Jaap van Lagen and Daniel la Rosa drove for the team Mücke Motorsport who also were present at Estoril.
