Audi missed entry deadline

The DTM-organisation was shocked yesterday when the entry deadline for next year passed. Mercedes have comitted to the series, but Audi have not. Opel have already announced their retirement from the series and stopped privateer teams that wanted to run old factory cars. The DTM organisation have extended the entry dead line for Audi.

“The DTM is doing everything it can to satisfy Audi´s requirements. We want them to be in the series. Although two manufacturers are acceptable for 2006, but we obviously want more manufacturers in the future,” a DTM-spokesman said to Autosport.

For the coming season the DTM have introduced several cost reducing changes to the rules. Among other things parts of the aerodynamics and other parts of the cars are frozen from this season to the coming. This is to reduce the development costs. This is also rumoured to be one of the reasons for Audi to be delaying their entry since Mercedes had the advantage this season.
