Hockenheim Practice One

The first test session for this weekends DTM premiere at Hockenheim is completed. Jean Alesi was fastest of them all in his 05 spec’ Mercedes, with a time of 1:34.857. His closest contender was Bruno Spengler. Third fastest was Audi’s Pierre Kaffer, also in a 05 spec’ car.

Mattias Ekström was fastest of the 06 spec’ Audis at fourth place, right ahead of his new team mate Heinz-Harald Frentzen. And it seems like there is alot of sand-bagging going on. Several teams are waiting until closer to the qualifying before showing their true performance, clearly shown as 05 cars are at the top. But the field is showing clear potential for a close race, top 11 cars were within the same second.

A second test session will be held later today. Tomorrow starts with a free practice session before the qualifying sessions. And Sunday is of course race day.
