Jamie Green takes pole

Britains Jamie Green has taken hold of pole position for the first race of the new DTM season at Hockenheim. In the first qualifying in the new format he was able to outpace his teammate Bernd Schneider. Bruno Spengler completed the all-Mercedes top three. Fastest Audi man was Martin Tomczyk.

Last years runner up Mattias Ekström had to be satisfied with sixth place on the grid, just in front of former F1-stars Mika Häkkinen and Heinz-Harald Frentzen. Jean Alesi only got home in 16th.
