TouringCarTimes rankings 1.0!

Welcome to the first TouringCarTimes rankings! Lists and rankings are popular and we decided to introduce our own list. We will rank the two most impressive drivers and/or teams and the most unimpressive driver/team. DTM, WTCC and STCC will start off getting the harsh but honest rankings!

–DTM–

Bernd Schneider

Quite obvious. Schneider has proved that despite being one of the oldest in the championship, he is still in the game and hungry for more! The two first opening races couldn’t have gone any better. Mercedes is quicker than Audi so far and Schneiders team are making perfect pitstops.

Alexandros Margaritis

Margaritis is fifth in the championship after taking fifth in the first race and sixth in the second. The young greek had a thrilling fight with ex. F1-driver Jean Alesi at Eurospeedway which he won and straight drove away from him. The fact that he is driving a 2005 spec’ Merc is making his performance even more impressive!

Ekström’s team

It’s been said many times, but Ekström is left with zero points after two races. The first race was ruined when something broke in the suspension. The second race was over when the team didn’t manage to get enough fuel in his car during the pitstop. Ekström has got the speed, but does the team have the capacity to keep up?

–WTCC–

Andy Priaulx

Priaulx is clearly showing why he won ETCC in 2004 and WTCC in 2005. He is driving fast and cleanly. He won last race despite carrying alot of penalty weight. The new BMW is a dangerous weapon in the hands of the Brit. Chances are good for a third title in a row if he can keep it up.

Yvan Müller

Brand new in the SEAT-team and dominates straight away. The performance at Monza was nothing else than excellent. But a question mark must be issued after his performance at Magny-Cours. The frenchman only got two points with him, but is still second in the championship. Will he keep that position after Brands Hatch?

Lada

Hello, where are you? When the Russian manufacturer announced their plans many laughed. Perhaps the laughs were correct? After two races there is not a single sign of them other than a word that they might be at Oschersleben in June. Will they be there or is this another case of Brilliance?

—STCC–

Tomas Engström

The ever-fighting Engström is still there, now with his Honda Accord updated and stronger than ever. Despite being off-track during the first race he fought back and took third place. He has shown strong performance during the entire pre-season and translated it in to real race pace at Knutstorp. “We’ve come to a position where we honestly can say that the Accord suits all tracks. That feels great,” Engström said after the race.

David Björk

The newcomer started from 16th position on the grid and finished sixth, right behind current champion Richard Göransson. Björk is only 22 years old this year and some of his compettitors were racing even before he was born. His team boss, the legendary Picko Troberg, might have found yet another promising talent?

Volvo

Dahlgren showed good performance during the tests before qualifying at Knutstorp. But he missed the super pole and retired from the race with flames spewing all over his Volvo. Storckenfeldt finished 12th after a anonymous qualifying, one second off the pole-time. Dahlgren showed good speed during the tests and both drives are very talented, but can they translate it to results?
