Ekström returns to rallying

DTM ace Mattias Ekström again goes into his second major passion: rallying. Between the Norisring and the Nürburgring DTM rounds, the Swede again gets out of his Audi A4 DTM to race a Skoda Fabia WRC in the German round of the World Rally Championship, held from 10th to 13th August, at Trier.

Following Ekström’s win at Brands Hatch, hiss boss, Audi Motorsport Director Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, gave ‘Eki’ the approval for his guest appearance in the rally event.

The 27-year old 2004 DTM Champion has already demonstrated that he also has got what it needs to be quick on rally tracks. In 2004, he secured Group N wins in the Rally Sweden and the Rally Spain and in 2005 and 2006, he finished tenth in overall rankings of the WRC round held in his native Sweden, thus even outclassing well-established rally aces.
