Alex Margaritis penalised
Once again bad news for Alexandros Margaritis: the clerk of the course declared all lap times in qualifying set by the Mercedes C-Class driver void, so that the driver from Bonn will be starting from last place on the grid for the race on Sunday. The reason for this penalty was a collision with fellow-Mercedes-Benz-driver Stefan Mücke during the first qualifying heat. Margaritis immediately drove to the middle of the track after getting out of the pit lane and had blocked Mücke.
The latter was on a flying lap at the time, couldn’t avoid a collision and ran into Margaritis’s C-Class. In the process, Mücke damaged his car so badly that he could no longer take part in the second part of qualifying. At the Nürburgring already, Margaritis was put back to last place on the grid because of a similar offence.
