Bleekemolen steels show at Zandvoort

Despite not starting in the DTM race itself, Jeroen Bleekemolen was still racing at Zandvoort today. The young Dutchman, who was forced to leave Audi after troubles with his sponsor, made a guest appearance in the German Porsche Cup.

It was a race in which Jeroen Bleekemolen showed Audi it was a big mistake not to put him in their DTM car. Although he was very quick since he got the seat in Brands Hatch, sometimes even faster than the 2005 cars and most of the times the fastest 2004 car, Audi replaced him with Nicolas Kiesa, because of sponsor problems.

As said, in Bleekemolens guest appearance, he showed great class. Starting from fourth position, he managed to work his way up to second place at the flag. He finished three seconds behind Richard Westbrook, who also was making a guest appearance.

The chances that Bleekemolen will return in DTM this year aren’t big. “I haven’t talked to the team yet if I can return later this season. Audi was very satisfied, so if a driver needs to be replaced, i’ll be at the front of the line. But together with Ronald van de Laar we’re looking ambitiously to create a new team. That will be for next year, but the plans are very good”, Bleekemolen said to RaceXpress.
