Alesi has been given a penalty

For an unnecessary braking manoeuvre on the main straight, Jean Alesi (stern AMG-Mercedes) was given a penalty by the stewards of the meeting. For the strong and unexpected move, the Frenchman has to pay a fine of 7,000 euros.

According to the stewards, Alesi had brought the following driver Mika Häkkinen in a dangerous situation by his action. For a similar manoeuvre, Uwe Alzen had to pay 10,000 Deutschmarks at Zandvoort in 2001.
