Alesi explains brake test on Häkkinen

Jean Alesi was fined 7,000 euros after the DTM race at Barcelona. The incident Alesi was penalised for was a strange maneuver on the start/finish straight, it looked like he “brake tested” Mika Häkkinen. Apparently it was a misunderstanding between the two after a team order.

Mercedes ordered Alesi to let Häkkinen past as he was on fresh tyres after his second pitstop. Alesi didn’t see Häkkinen in the rear view mirror as the Finn followed him out of the racing line where he tried to brake and let Häkkinen past. Häkkinen was left fuming after the incident while Alesi went straight home after the race without speaking to Häkkinen.

“What was going on in his head?! I want to know from him what the hell he was doing,” Häkkinen said.

After the race Alesi have spoken to Häkkinen, and according to Autosport there is no problem between the two drivers.
