Thed Björk replaces Kiesa

Nicolas Kiesa is replaced by Swedish Touring Car Championship champion Thed Björk at the Le Mans DTM-race this weekend. Kiesa was refused to run the event after a medical investigation. Kiesa broke his right leg during a day of motocross.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to show what I can do. I have wanted to be in DTM all my life and now I am going to go for it,” a very happy Björk said.

Mattias Ekström was happy to see another Swede in the championship.

“I feel for Kiesa, but of course I’m happy for Thed. It isn’t easy to get in to DTM and now he has got a good chance. He proved that he can drive in the STCC and I hope he will do well here,” Ekström said.

Björk will take part in the event along side Vanina Ickx in the Futurecom TME team. The team is using an Audi A4 from 2004 and Björk becomes the fourth driver to take part in this team. Previous races have seen Tielemans, Bleekemolen and Kiesa run that car.
