Bernd Schneider not going to retire
Yesterday Bernd Schneider took his fifth DTM title. A remarkable performance after his two years of absence in the title fight. In 2004 and 2005 the new young guns fought for the DTM title, but “despite” being aged 42, Schneider was back in bussiness this year and after a great season, he’s not thinking of retiring at all.
Schneider has been “mr. DTM” for a long while already. From the year 2000 untill the year 2003 he showed he was capable of being much faster than the young rookies. Having a bit of a setback in 2004 and 2005, he showed the critics he’s nowhere near retirement this year.
“If my boss likes me to drive another year, I wouldn’t know anything else better to do”, Schneider said after winning the title. His boss, Mercedes sportchef Norbert Haug, had already said Schneider was more than welcome to stay at that point. “I don’t think the champion will be leaving us”, Haug commentated.
