Paffett to return with Mercedes

2005 DTM Champion Gary Paffett will return to DTM next season. Paffett recently turned down an F1-offer from Honda as third driver. Instead the Briton will test for the McLaren F1-team and compete in DTM for Mercedes.
“I will still be testing for McLaren, but I will have room for something else,” said Paffett. “Racing in the DTM would be the automatic choice.”

So far Mercedes have confirmed three drivers for their 2007 campaign. Häkkinen does not seem to be interested in re-signing and taking the fourth and final seat.

“There are a lot of drivers going for those seats but obviously my aim would be to take back my title from Mr Schneider,” Paffett said to Autosport.
