Schneider ADAC Racer of the Year
At the ADAC Sports Gala, Bernd Schneider was awarded the title ‘ADAC Motor Racer of the Year’. The five-time DTM Champion received his prize, the large Christopherus made from Nymphenburger chinaware, from ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk. The ADAC Sports Gala was held this Saturday, in Munich.
Bernd Schneider: secured his fifth DTM title at the wheel of his AMG-Mercedes C-ClassAccording to the jury of eight – consisting of four renowned motor sport journalists and four members of the ADAC Sports Panel – the Mercedes-Benz works driver was not only decorated because of his outstanding achievements in the 2006 season alone. At the same time, the exemplary manner of the 42-year old was also accentuated. “He is a true racetrack gentleman, an irreproachable sportsman,” Tomczyk praised the German in his laudation.
Apart from Michael Schumacher, DTM Record Champion Bernd Schneider is the only driver to haven been honoured as ‘ADAC Motor Racer of the Year’ twice. “That’s something making me particularly proud,” said Schneider. “We’ve got a lot of good raving drivers in Germany, and many of them are highly respected abroad, too. This fact even valorises this award, from my point of view.”
Among the congratulators in Munich were the likes of Hans Werner Aufrecht, Hans-Jürgen Abt and Audi Motorsport Director Dr Wolfgang Ullrich. Furthermore, many of Schneider’s fellow DTM drivers, such as Christian Abt, Martin Tomczyk, Pierre Kaffer and Frank Stippler, also attended the gala and applauded for the new ‘ADAC Motor Racer of the Year’.
