Oschersleben test day three
On Thursday, Audi kept on dominating the action in DTM’s only official pre-season tests. At the 3.696-kilometre Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, Audi A4 DTM driver Mattias Ekström set the fastest lap time of day three.
Yet, his fastest lap (1:23.009 minutes) wasn’t good enough to beat Tom Kristensen who remains the quickest of the test so far, with his 1:22.808-minute lap set on Wednesday. Mike Rockenfeller and Martin Tomczyk completed the Audi trio on the top of the time sheets.
With his new AMG-Mercedes C-Class, two-time Formula One World Champion finished fourth, 0.496 seconds behind Ekström, thus being the quickest of the Mercedes-Benz drivers. Behind the Finn who joined the test action only today, his fellow Mercedes-Benz drivers Paul di Resta, Jamie Green and Gary Paffett came fifth, sixth and seventh respectively.
Apart from the Audi test car – that was driven by Lucas Luhr in the morning session and Vanina Ickx in the afternoon and completed a total of 205 laps – DTM rookie Mike Rockenfeller was the busiest of the drivers. He completed 137 laps, representing a total mileage of 506.352 kilometres, with Mika Häkkinen completing just one lap less – 136.
