Half the points for EuroSpeedway race

Just as it was announced in the press release published on 22nd May, 2007, the DMSB analysed and assessed all the incidents that occurred during the course of the DTM race held at the EuroSpeedway Lausitz. In a resolution, the DMSB decided to respond to the incidents by awarding only half the championship points. At the same time, the additional placement weights and weight reductions stipulated by the DTM regulations for the coming round will be reduced from 7 to 3.5kg.

The basis for these decisions was the analysis of TV and video pictures as well as time sheets and protocols documenting several wrong decisions of the race control and not confirming every position of the published race result. On the other hand, it was definitely confirmed that the winner and the runner-up were scored on the positions they had secured on the track. Prior to the decision of the DMSB, a special meeting of the DTM commission, held on 23rd May, had resulted in a proposed resolution for the DMSB bodies. Even the full disallowance of all the points was discussed. The seven-person DTM Commission comprises representatives of DMSB and ITR as well as the manufacturers and the organisers.

In addition, the DMSB immediately will go about improvements regarding the organisation of the events and also considers staff changes, in the course of these activities.
