Tomczyk takes control in 2nd test

In the second test of the DTM at Brands Hatch, almost everything was different from the first 90 minutes’ test session in the morning. In sunny conditions, Audi driver, Martin Tomczyk, took control at the 1.929 kilometres long Indy lay-out of the traditional British circuit. On his fastest lap (43.319 seconds), the German was still short of Mika Häkkinen’s fastest lap time from the morning session, but still, the time was enough to leave all his opponents behind him in the second test. Best of the rest was Lucas Luhr, who claimed second place, 0.048 seconds down. Fastest Mercedes-Benz driver was the current points’ leader, Paul di Resta, in third.

Contrarily to the morning session, during which conditions weren’t ideal, the second test took place in dry conditions with temperatures ranging around 25 degrees. The drivers mainly concentrated on long runs in preparation for Sunday’s race. The most active driver was local hero Jamie Green, who lapped the track no less than 82 times, thus covering an entire race distance. Five time’s DTM champion Bernd Schneider, who was was fourth in the second test with his AMG Mercedes C-Class, did only one lap less. Just behind Schneider, Adam Carroll confirmed his strong performance from the first test with his 2005-spec Audi A4 DTM.

Qualifying for the gourth round of the season will be starting tomorrow, Saturday, at 12.28 pm local time (13.28 h in Germany). The ARD is broadcasting live from 13.45 h onwards.
