Spengler fastest in warm-up

Bruno Spengler drove the fastest race lap in warm-up of the DTM at the Nürburgring. With a lap time of 1.24.046 minutes, the Canadian underlined his ambitions for a good result in the race. Martin Tomczyk, who will be starting the race from pole position with his Audi A4 DTM, was second, 0.170 seconds down. He was followed by stalwarts Tom Kristensen (Audi) and Bernd Schneider (Mercedes-Benz).

Points leader Mattias Ekström showed a slight upward trend. The Swede, who had to cope with set-up problems in qualifying and was only tenth, now occupied seventh place behind his fellow Audi drivers Timo Scheider and Mike Rockenfeller. The Swede came 0.436 seconds short of Spengler’s fastest lap time.

Daniel la Rosa failed to complete a lap in the warm-up session in the morning. The driver from Hanau had to watch his mechanics of the Mücke Motorsport team working on his AMG Mercedes C-Class. His team-mate Susie Stoddart confirmed her good performance from qualifying on Sunday morning and was 13th, 0.630 seconds down.
