Bruno Spengler criticizes Audi tactics

Bruno Spengler is more than unhappy with the Audi tactics during the Deutche Tourenwagen Masters of 2007. Spengler finished second in the championship, only three points behind champion Mattias Ekström. During the season Spengler has had a couple of incidents with Audi-drivers, like in the final round when Audi’s Rockenfeller was left out on track ahead of Spengler for so long that he ran out of fuel.

“It’s a shame that they left a car out until it ran out of fuel. They played team to prevent me from getting to the front to win the championship,” said Spengler to Autosport.

The Canadian driver claims that Mercedes on the other hand has played a fair game through out the entire season.
“We fought so hard, but the fairness was not the same on both sides in the end. We played for the sport, they played for the team, like they did the whole season,” he said.

“When Paul di Resta was in front of Ekström they called him in. He could have blocked but Mercedes didn’t do that for the sake of the sport. Unfortunately the result is not what it should be, but you can’t change it. It was a difficult year, but we drove fair the whole season.”
