Audi doesn’t want Schumacher for 2008

The Formula 1 season is over and Ralf Schumacher has split with his team Toyota. Earlier we reported that there had been rumours that Schumacher was talking to Chevrolet for a seat in the WTCC next year. We reported these rumours were denied by Chevrolet. After this rumours arose that Schumacher might want to race in the DTM in 2008.

It was speculated that Schumacher might be able to get a seat with Audi for next year. However, these rumours have now been denied by Rupert Stadler, chairman of Audi. “There is absolutely no need for us to do that. It’s our goal to get young and ambitious drivers and let them grow within our team”, Stadler said. “Martin Tomczyk, Mattias Ekström and even Tom Kristensen came to us as “nobodies”. And Now they are very popular and famous.”

Stadler underlined that Audi will stay in DTM for at least another year. “The series has to become more attractive. We must figure out how to get closer to the fans, who are potentially our customers.”
