Audi and Mercedes still not friends

After the Deutche Tourenwagen Masters 2007 season the relations between Audi and Mercedes are not good. When Audi pulled all cars from the race at Barcelona in protest the relations dropped to the bottom. Recently the two manufacturers had a meeting with the DTM organization to solve these things for the future.

“It was a good meeting. We looked at everything together and exchanged our ideas, but on several items we had different opinions,” said Audi Motorsport director Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich to Autosport.

A lot of focus has been aimed towards the fact that older cars from the two manufacturers have been used in the races to hinder opponents.
“When we spoke we didn’t clear the air between us. But we need to get rid of all the blocking. If somebody suddenly slows down by two seconds this is not on,” said Mercedes Motorsport director Norbert Haug.

Seemingly Audi still have not scrapped their plans to be able to pull out all cars form a race if they are not satisfied with what happens in a race.
“I hope this is not necessary, this is my big hope,” said Ullrich.
