Latest update on the new DTM rules

Rumors regarding the new Deutche Tourenwagen Masters rules are running hot. The latest information indicates that it is earliest 2010 that they could be introduced. The main reason is that Audi will introduce their new A4 next year and want to run it for at least two seasons plus that Mercedes has only run their C-Class for one season yet.

The main reason for introducing the new rules are to attract new manufacturers and to reduce the costs. Audi and Mercedes have been alone in the DTM since the end of 2005.

A lot of rumors circulate regarding which manufactures are interested. Peugeot and Lexus are reported to be the strongest candidates at the moment.
