Mercedes DTM car to be auctioned
A special item will be auctioned at Christie’s next year. The car that was driven by Gary Paffett in 2007, the AMG Mercedes C-Class DTM, will be sold to the highest bidder in a “Silent Auction”. The benefits from this auction will be donated to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Germany. The Laureus Foundation has been the “sponsor” of Paffett’s car during the 2007 season.
Mercedes-Benz wanted to increase the reputation of the Laureus Foundation, and therefor run the car during the 2007 season with the name of the foundation on the Paffett car. Now the car will be auctioned to benefit the Laureus Foundation, so they can continue organising sporting programmes for children.
Untill the start of the 2008 DTM season, people can bid on the car in a “Silent Auction”. To do so, a biddingscart has to be downloaded from www.mercedes-benz.de/motorsport und www.laureus.com. In the end, Christie’s will auction the car. The minimum bid for the car is 300.000 Euros.
