Paffett wants to challenge title in new car

Gary Paffett is hoping to drive a 2008 spec’ Mercedes C-Class in the Deutche Tourenwagen Masters this year. Last year Paffett rejoined DTM and Mercedes in a year old car, after being absent from the series in 2006 following his 2005 championship win.
“Certainly my aim is to be in a new car. I am fuelled by winning races. We haven’t totally confirmed it yet, but staying is certainly the plan. Hopefully we can finalise that very soon and go back racing again,” said Paffett to Autosport.

Mercedes has not announced officially yet if Paffett will be behind the wheel of a new car or not. The Brit is hoping to get the best possible material to be able to fight for the title again.

“Winning a race last year was great, but I want to be challenging for the championship,” Paffett said.
