First pictures of Ralf Schumacher test

Ralf Schumacher has completed his first Deutche Tourenwagen Masters test for Mercedes. The test took place at Estoril in Portugal where the 32 year old German drove an 2006 specification Mercedes C-Class.
“It is a new feeling for me to have a roof over my head. The first lap was very fun,” Schumacher said to Bild.de.

The test continues today at Estoril for Schumacher who is reported to be joined by ex-F1 driver Christian Klien and F3-driver Maro Engel. Regular drivers Bernd Schneider and Bruno Spengler are also present.

According to Bild.de Mercedes Motorsport boss Norbert Haug is negotiating with Schumacher to drive for them at the price of 2.5 million Euro. Haug was pleased with the previous F1-race winner’s progress in the DTM-car.

“His laptimes were very satisfactory. I’ve known Ralf since he was in F3, and for many years he said he’d like to try the DTM. I said he should wait until his current contract situation allowed it and this is the first opportunity,” said Haug.

ITR Chairman Hans Werner Aufrecht would love to welcome Ralf Schumacher on the DTM grid. “With his experience and personality, Ralf would represent a true asset for DTM. Signing him would definitely be a great move for both the series and its fans,” he said to DTM.com.
