Audi continue dominance at Oschersleben
During the first of todays tests at the Motorsport Arena in Oschersleben, Audi has continued to show their dominance in the DTM. With just Audi cars in the top six positions, the Mercedes squad from Stutgart are looking for a tough weekend at the East-German track. The poleman of the race in Hockenheim, Timo Scheider, set the fastest time in the first practise session, almost four tenths ahead of Tom Kristensen.
Markus Winkelhock was the fastest man in a one year old car in third, closely followed by Oliver Jarvis, who is also driving a 2007 Audi A4 DTM. Reigning champion Mattias Ekström finished the session in sixth, just behind team mate Martin Tomczyk.
For the Mercedes team is was again Paul di Resta who was the fastest man, although he only managed to set the 7th fastest time, over six tenths behind front runner Scheider. Bernd Schneider, who’s nickname is Mr. DTM, didn’t manage to post a quicker lap than 1:24.597, two seconds slower than the fastest man. Schneider finished the session in 19th place.
Dutchman Christijan Albers posted another impressive time in the first test session. In his 2006 car, the only non-works driver managed to set 10th fastest time.
