Timo Scheider leads Audi train

Who else than Timo Scheider took pole for the race at Oschersleben tomorrow. The German has been at the top of the tables during the first three test sessions of the weekend, and he had no intention of letting anyone change that during the qualifying session this afternoon. The German driver took pole position in convincing fashion. He will be joined on the front row of the grid by his team mate Tom Kristensen.

The Dane Kristensen, who always performs well on the Oschersleben track, outqualified his collegues at Audi, Martin Tomczyk and Oliver Jarvis, who took third and fourth respectively.

Bruno Spengler was the fastest Mercedes man on track during qualifying. He drove half a second slower round the track than the pole man, but managed to claim fifth position, just ahead of his team mate Paul di Resta.

The second part of the qualifying session was red flagged after Alexandre Prémat lost control of his Audi A4 DTM and spun into the wall in the last corner, ending up back in the middle of the track. The race director decided to let all 14 drivers from the second session go on to the third and last session, and extended the time for qualifying in the third session. Alexandre Prémat’s car however was to heavily damaged to participate in the last part of qualifying.

Winner of the last race at Hockenheim, Mattias Ekström, dissapointed with 8th starting position for tomorrow’s race. During this mornings free practise the Swede managed to set the second fastest time.
