Scheider and Schneider fastest in test 2

Their laptimes were even more alike than their last names; Timo Scheider and Bernd Schneider both drove the exact same time. During the second test session of the day the drivers set a time of 1:19.688 on the Lausitzring. It was the fastest time of the session, but Schneider was placed in second place, as Timo Scheider set the fastest lap first.

At the beginning of the session there wasn’t much action on the track. Just ahead of the start of the session it had began to rain slightly. Despite that it took 20 minutes before cars came on to the track, Jamie Green managed to do 51 laps round the East-German track. The winner of the last race drove the most laps of all the drivers, Paul di Resta did 50 laps and Bernd Schneider did 49 laps.

Markus Winkelhock caused a yellow flag for five minutes as he spun his car into the gravel trap at turn 10. The German Audi-driver could not continue and rescue marshalls had to tow his car out of the gravel. Despite his off Winkelhock finished the session as best driver in a 2007 car.

Christijan Albers, who had set a surprising seventh fastest time in this mornings first session with his 2006 Audi, was fast again in the second test. The Dutch driver posted eleventh fastest time.

The next session is tomorrow at 9:55 CET, when the last free practise session is held.
