Paul di Resta takes first pole position

Mercedes driver Paul di Resta has taken his first pole position in the DTM. The Scotsman will start the race tomorrow at the Lausitzring from the front position on the grid. It will be the first time in nine races a Mercedes driver starts from pole position. Di Resta’s teammate Bruno Spengler took second place in qualifying, just like he did in the free practise session this morning.

Timo Scheider, who had taken pole position in the first three races of the season was the fastest Audi driver in qualifying. The German will start tomorrow’s race from third place on the grid, just ahead of team mate Mattias Ekström

It was the first time this season all new DTM cars made it to the final session of qualifying, as Oliver Jarvis just missed out on a place in the top 8. The Briton will start from 9th position tomorrow in his 2007 Audi A4.

Christijan Albers could not keep the performance up he showed during the practise session, but will still start from a very good 14th position in his two year old car. Fellow former F1-driver Ralf Schumacher will start one place in front of him, in 13th.
