Mattias Ekström wins dominating for Audi

Mattias Ekström wins the DTM race at Zandvoort with a complete Audi domination. Audi locked out the first 4 positions from start to finish. Ekström (Sweden) led Scheider (Germany), Kristensen (Denmark) and Tomczyk (Germany) finising 1-2-3-4 respectively. The best Mercedes was that of Spengler who finished 21.919s further back. Jamie Green lost out early in the race having qualified in 4th place he lost two places from the start but brought his Salzgitter AMG Mercedes home in 6th place.

Mattias Ekström secured his third career race win at Zandvoort leading from pole and at the head of 3 other Audi cars in what was a total Audi domination.

Martin Tomczyk had a great start, making the most of Jamie Greens slow start effectively swapping places with Jamie Green to take 4th position. Tomczyk then held onto his 4th position at the end.

Local man Albers went off on the second lap at his home track. Heading fast towards the Renault Curve he put two wheels on the grass and became a passenger as the car went straight on eventually hitting a barrier to stop, and end his race.

Katherine Legge came into the pits unscheduled on lap 34, ending her race early.

The race was fairly static through much of the race however on the last couple of laps Markus Winkelhock benefits from a tussle to take 8th position after Bernd Schneider and Mike Rockenfeller battle just in front. Markus Winkelhock moves into 8th pushing Bernd Schneider and Mike Rockenfeller down the order.
