Bruno Spengler sets fastest time of the day

Mercedes retook the top during the second practice session of the day at Nürburgring. Bruno Spengler topped the list, one tenth faster than championship leader Timo Scheider in the Audi A4. Paul di Resta and Mattias Ekström made it Mercedes-Audi-Mercedes-Audi in top four.

Jamie Green was fifth fastest ahead of previous Formula One-driver Ralf Schumacher, who showed strong form in sixth.

Audi took the remaining places in top ten with Martin Tomczyk seventh, Tom Kristensen eigth, Alexandre Prémat ninth and Markus Winkelhock tenth.

Because of the TV coverage of Tour de France, the qualifying session will start at 18.48 tomorrow instead of the usual time 13.28.
